Emergency Tips
Call DFD
Let us know it happened, where you're located and we will be there within 24 hours to pack out and inventory your documents no matter how small or large the job may be.
Safety
We follow the direction of proper authorities to give access to the damaged area of the building. Before you enter the damaged area, DFD strongly encourages personal health protection. Wear clothing that can be thrown away if in direct contact with mold. Also, wear a breathing mask and gloves, and any other protective devices at your disposal. DFD firmly suggests that you DO NOT touch moldy damaged items.
Prioritize
If the area has been cleared for safety, begin prioritizing your documents. This can be accomplished by marking or labeling the outside of cabinets and shelves. If you must touch or move the documents, handle with care! Touching saturated paper or smoke damaged paper will hinder the restoration process. Saturated paper can turn into pulp and begin growing mold. Smoke damaged paper can stain with the addition of pressure from handling.
Security
All private information is kept secure with DFD. DFD will need to know what documents are private and what to look for, we will ensure privacy of your clients or businesses you have on file.
Inform
DFD will handle other items than documents. Let us know what your preferences are. The restoration of your documents is our primary goal. Yet, we may restore the filing cabinet the documents came in. Keeping us informed on your expectations and questions will allow DFD to satisfy your restoration needs.
